Practicing Advocate of the High Court of Uganda for over 18 years. Member of the East African Law society and Uganda Law Society.

Advocate of the High Court of Uganda since 2000; endowed with wide range of experience in the legal profession built for a period of over 10 years with the firm and 8 years before then. Major exposure is in Corporate and Commercial fields of the legal profession.

In- House Counsel/ Board Secretary for Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) [2001 – 2006] with key roles (among others) as listed hereunder;

  1. Member/Legal Advisor of the Project Management Unit (UEB) for the implementation of the Owen Falls Extension Project (OFE- Power IV Project) financed by the World Bank and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway through IDA, NORAD and NDF.

  2. Member/Legal Advisor of the Project Management Unit (UEB) for the implementation of the Urban Power Rehabilitation Project (UPRP) jointly financed by the Government of Uganda and the African Development Fund (ADF).

  3. Responsible for attending to all legal matters of UEB including but not limited to litigation, insurance, human resource matters, negotiating & preparation of all contracts and other legal documents, supervising the implementation of such contracts, dispute resolution in matters involving UEB, ensuring proper implementation of the power projects assigned to UEB as the PMU, ensuring compliance by UEB in respect of all Statutory or other legal requirements and handling legal matters connected to divestiture/winding-up of UEB.

Since 2006 to-date , the designated representative from M/s Kateera & Kagumire Advocates as In House Counsel/Corporation Secretary Uganda Railways Corporation; where major roles (among others) are ; to attend to all the Corporation’s legal matters, ensuring compliance with all Statutory requirements, negotiating and preparing all contracts and legal documents, over-seeing the legal process for divestiture of URC which resulted into the concession of railway operations to Rift Valley Uganda Limited (RVR), ensuring RVR’s compliance with the provisions of the Concession Agreement, handling all litigation and dispute resolution matters.

In 2007 while acting as In House Counsel/Corporation Secretary for Uganda Railways Corporation, was appointed as Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation which role was successfully executed up to 2009.
